Organizational flags of the U.S. Army Engineer School have a scarlet field and white fringe, these being the Corps of Engineers (CoE) branch colors. The School's flag displays its device (which is also the coat of arms of the CoE: a scarlet, white-bordered shield charged with the CoE branch insignia, a white castle. The crest is a lit lamp symbolizing knowledge. The CoE motto is ESSAYONS (Let us try). Flags of brigades and battalions of the Engineer School have a canton of the design and colors of the device--scarlet, bordered white, with the branch insignia in white--and white designating numerals.
